What Its All About

The goal of this blog is to highlight the benefits of preparing for any situation that may arise, whether a small local blackout or an EMP that cripples the entire US power grid, a riot in your hometown or a full scale government shutdown resulting in anarchy.

  1. I like this topic, it may spark some interesting debates over the best ways to prepare for disastrous scenarios.

The best way to prepare for a disaster is to understand what the effects of the disaster are. For a flood, seal any basement openings and board up any openings. For an EMP, store up food and buy a hand-powered charger to use appliances that were unaffected. It would also be a good idea to stock up on batteries. In the case of riots or mass panic, re-enforce all house locks and buy a battery or crank powered radio to listen for any news. If you are able to, you could also get a HAM radio so you can communicate without the need of satellite reception or open phone lines. Even for apocalyptic disasters by predicting what you will need, you will find that the resources needed to survive are actually not hard to come by nor particularly expensive.
